The Big Red Open

The Big Red Open

By Tim Beggs ( Contact )   October 21, 2008

The Big Red Open, thanks to many great people and alot of effort, was a great success! We had a beautiful fall day to golf with plenty of sunshine at Bass Creek Golf Course in Footville. The course was in great shape and everyone had many laughs and a few birdies too! I had the pleasure to golf with Wiggy's Team with the Wigman, Nate and Holiday. To the best of my knowledge Wiggy didn't even pull out his foot wedge. He didn't need it because the rest of the team carried him through the round. Just Kidding! Thanks Wiggy for the golf and for ALL YOU DID TO HELP!

Knute served up some real fine vittles for many hungry golfers following the outing. Badger State Auctions hosted an auction with Bob Johnson as the Auctioneer. (Leroy Van Dyke would've been proud) Dale Watson finished the night with some honky tonkin' the folks in attendance won't soon forget. Thanks again to those who contributed in any way! You made a difference and we couldn't have done it without every bit of help.

The one thing that bothers me a bit is that some folks I know who told me they would be there didn't show up? I understand the whole being busy routine, but this event meant alot to me and a whole bunch of people. All I can say is that YOU missed a great day. The 300 plus people at the show and 60 some golfers and those just there for support had a GREAT TIME!!!

Thanks Again for helping our friends and neighbors in need. That's what the whole event was about.

This past Saturday we held the first ever "Big Red Open" at Bass Creek Golf
course in Footville. The Benefit was to raise money to help local Families that
were effected by this past summers Flood.
I would just like to say that I have never been prouder of the Community and
local business that stepped up and helped make the event a success. And we will
be presenting a check to the United Way in the next few days when all the
donations are counted.
I personally would like to thank the following companies: Bass Creek Golf
Course, I.G Hall,Van Galder Tour & Travel, UAW Local 95, Wiggy's Saloon, Best
Events, Bellrock Drywall, Paulinas Party Shop, Burtness Chevrolet, Baymont Inn,
You've Been Framed, Badger State Auctions, Shumway Appliance, R & W Heating,
Custom xero Graphics, Ace Portables, ABS Global, Eastside Sportz Pub, Boyd
Consulting Group, The Exclusive Company, WJVL, and all the businesses who were
hole sponsors, and the golfers who participated in the outing.
I'd also like to thank Dale Watson and his Lonestars who came up from Austin
Texas to put on a fantastic show. And all the Country Music lovers who braved a
Wisconsin Fall night to enjoy some real country music.
I also need to recognize the following individuals for their time and effort
above and beyond. I want to thank Dan Thompson and the Staff at Bass Creek, Bob
Johnson from Badger State Auctions, Kim Dooley of Van Galder Tour and Travel,
Pat Wygans (Wiggy) of Wiggy's Saloon, Jay Johns for providing the sound for Dale
and the Lonestars, Dale Robbins, Diamond Ted Anderson, Andy Bell, and Biddle
Gunn for seeing that the show was a success. I'd also like to thank Tim Beggs
of WJVL, and Jason Ryan of WSJY for helping with the planning from day one. And
the listeners of WJVL who came out and supported the event.
And Last but not least I want to thank my family. My wife Gerri, and my Dad and
Stepmom Gerry and Nancy Hanthorn for their support from the beginning of this
project.
If there is anyone I forgot I appologize. And if you missed it we "might" do it
again!

Thank you all from the bottom of my Heart!

BIG RED
