Walworth County Fair

Walworth County Fair

The 159th Walworth County Fair is coming August 27th through September 1st at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn. I've enjoyed the opportunity to get to know some of the folks who work hard all year long to put together this top notch event. This year the theme is "Rock Around the Fair" and last week I had the chance to attend the Media Luncheon at the Bowling Alley in Walworth, Wi.

There were 2 1957 Chevy's parked outside greeting us as we entered. Inside the staff was dressed up in "Sock Hop" outfits and Fair Board members were wearing some "cool" Rock Around the Fair bowling shirts. It didn't suprise me because when it comes to promoting the Walworth County Fair, these folks know how to get it done! I've worked with Susan Pruessing the Marketing & Public Relations Manager since 2003 and I'm happy to continue working with her again this year. My first year at the fair I had a minor mishap that required medical attention. You see I banged my head hard on a rear hatch of a van as I was setting up to broadcast. At first I thought it was just a bump until I noticed a steady stream of blood running down my face a minute later. The EMT's on site sent me to the hospital where I had to get several stitches to close the wound. I've still got the scar to prove it.

As the Media Luncheon continued we enjoyed grilled burgers, fries and a big 'ol banana split. (my kind of luncheon) We heard from several people promoting different events and then in came the King! That's right Elvis dropped by to sing a few songs. The last activity was a game of bowling for everyone there. We got fitted with shoes and warmed up for a one game "roll off". I started with a strike and soon pins were flying all over the place. I finished with a 179 and took home the top prize! Thanks to Sue and all the great folks at the Walworth County Fair, I'm ready to "Rock Around the Fair". Image
