Flu Fun

Flu Fun

By Tim Beggs ( Contact )   April 7, 2008

2 weeks ago I made the comment about not getting the flu this winter. At that time I was almost confident that I'd escaped the cold and flu bug this year. Open mouth and insert foot here. Well I was wrong. I got the flu and I got it good. The first 2 days I laid my burning body in bed sweating and shivering at the same time. I was as cold as an early February morning while feeling as warm as the afternoon Dominican Republic sun. How can you be that cold while feeling that hot? It took all the energy I had just to get up and use the rest room. Every bone in my body ached while I tried to break my fever. When that time came I was as happy as a gopher in soft dirt. I thought I was lucky to get by with just a fever. Well that was just the start of my flu fun. My head filled with pressure like a service station air compressor. I coughed out of control at times and my nose felt like it was going to fall off from blowing it. I was feeling pretty low......you know that sorry feeling you have for yourself like nobody has ever been as sick as you. I was really down. I was sick and tired of bieng sick and tired. It's times like these when you make promises to yourself like next year I think I'll get that flu shot!
