Driverless Cars

Driverless Cars

By Mike Austin ( Contact )   January 8, 2008

First let me say...God be with those of you who suffered through the storms yesterday! Weird to hear tornado sirens going off in January! OK, I saw this story and, along with all the gadget stories coming out of the Consumer Electronics Show out in Vegas, I now believe the world is passing me by! GM is saying they're about 10 years away from a DRIVERLESS CAR!!!!! Now I will admit that a computer can probably do a much better job at driving than some of the folks I've seen out on I-90 or on the beltway in Madison...however...all it'll take is just one little computer glitch and things will go really bad really fast. Plus, we'll have to teach the female computers to put their make-up on while driving the car! Just thinkin'....maybe I shouldn't.

Who Would get the "ticket" if the car is caught violating a traffic ordiance? will it be a male computer or female? what about all the stories we have heard about the navigational directions that have gone wrong in these cars. Last week they was a story on a car v. train cause it told the driver to proceed over the tracks. Jus some food for thought.
