God Bless the Risk Taker.
Terry Campbell and Ken Hendricks...having moved to the area this past year, I am truly sorry I never had the opportunity to meet these two gentlemen. Entrepreneurs are the true backbone of our country. Men and women who come up with a new idea or a better way to do something...then TAKE THE RISK to bring it to fruition. Both Terry Campbell and Ken Hendricks passed away too young. But it should make us all take a look at our own lives. When I have heard anyone talk about these two men, that moniker, “Entrepreneur”, has been tacked on to their names. How many of us have had an idea about doing something different with our lives. Something that makes a difference...only to go back to our everyday lives and complain, complain, complain. I have been blesed to meet several “Risk takers” over the years. All the successesful business people I have ever known have certain things in common. I think the most important thing is they ALL see a positive where most people see negative. A challenge is an opportunity, a “NO” is another step toward “YES”. Entrepreneurs tend to have a positive attitude and naturally lift up those around them. From what I can gather, Mr. Campbell and Mr. Hendricks had this quality to the highest degree. Education is, of course, important...but, hard work and a positive attitude will win every time. I try to instill this in my kids. Find the people who have a hard work ethic and postitive attitude and hang around them, learn from them. Hopefully I, as their Dad, am showing them those qualities. We would all do well to take lessons from Terry and Ken. And one other thing strikes me about these two gentlemen. They both left us WAY too soon. They both passed at a relatively young age and life is short. To paraphrase tim McGraw, “Live Like You Were Dyin'”. Is there a project you've always wanted to try, a cause you want to support a business you've wanted to start? Life is short and you could be touching a lot of other lives.
