The Million Minute Challenge

The Million Minute Challenge

By Mike Austin ( Contact )   December 27, 2007

With the cold days of winter here and colder ones still on the way, we might struggle with how to keep "cabin fever" from taking it's toll on us and the kids.
Well, we are a game playing family, always have been. Folks don't play board games much anymore. There's too much to grab the attention like I-pods, myspace, TV, video games...etc. Of course, the problem is...we don't interact with each other as a family. Study after study shows that a family that eats dinner together and does recreational activities together, has fewer overall problems. That's why I gotta love the folks at our own LOCAL game making company...Patch Products in Beloit! I, as a newbie to the area, had no idea such a cool and family friendly company was here! Patch Products is attacking the problem of family togetherness with their arsenal of games! COOL! If you go to the Patch Products website you'll find info. on the Million Minute Family Challenge. You can also go directly to www.millionminute.com. The Million Minute Challenge is winding down here at the end of December...but it's still a great idea to keep going on into '08. Basically you grab your favorite game and play with your family & friends. I think the suggestion was 20 minutes of play per night or week or something....doesn't matter....JUST PLAY! My favorite has always been Monopoly. Twister is fun (although I can't bend like I used to), my kids like Don't Break The Ice and my 4,6,7 & 8 year olds just learned how to play "Go Fish". Patch products has some very nice games for all ages....and they're a local company! So go play a game and connect with your family.
