A Name For the New Member of A Family

I'll have to post a picture of our menagerie of pet...well cats. We used to have dogs and cats but now we have cats. Three cats to be specific. In a previous blog I mentioned that my wife is the neighborhood cat lady. She feeds strays and attempts to find homes for the friendlier cats. Recently she discovered a kitten in our back yard. He was darting around and we couldn't get close to it. Eventually the kitten warmed up to he and she brought it in the house because of the approaching cold weather. Good call, I don't think he would've survived. She intended on either finding a home or taking him to the Humane Society. My Aunt and Uncle recently lost their cat of many years and we'd hoped that they would take in this little ball of fur. They said they weren't ready yet. We thought we could find a good home with someone we knew, that was my wife's and daughter's goal, so they could visit him. That hasn't happened yet. The Humane Society has so many animals that need homes, so we don't want to burden that organization with one more pet. So it looks like we have a new member of the family. Since he's most likely here to stay, he needs a name. He has a little mustache, I thought Groucho would be nice, but that was vetoed by my wife and daughter since Groucho implies a grouchy cat. I thought of Sylvester, not original, but a good name for a cat and I thought we could call him Sly(ala Stallone) anyway, he's got big ears and a mustache so we that Gable would work, as in Clark Gable, or Clark or Clarkie...we finally decided on a name of a character from the animated Christmas Show "A Year Without a Santa Claus". The character had big ears and his name was Izzie. Izzie, a great name for a cat! So making a short story long...that's the name of our new family member...Izzie!

Congrats on your new family member! I just rescued 2 kittens and they are such a joy. I'm sure Izzie will bring your family much happiness.

Bonus: When the kitten is hiding, you can walk around the house saying, "Where Izzie?"
