World Record Whitetail?

World Record Whitetail?

By Justin Brown ( Contact )   November 5, 2008

They are calling it the Field & Stream Buck. The 16-pointer is a buck of a lifetime!

As an avid hunter, I love to hear stories just like this one. A gentleman named Bob Decker of Eau Claire who is a paper mill worker and described by friends as just 'an average guy who likes to hunt,' headed out to try his luck at some bow hunting near Mondovi, WI. It was his 1st time out in the woods this bow season, which has been open since late September.

The best part, when Bob saw the buck he didn't realize just how "big" it was. He only knew it was a "shooter." Imagine his surprise when he recovered this animal.

Video shot in late summer of a very large buck in a Buffalo County field was posted on several Web sites in recent weeks, including that of Field and Stream. The buck grew to be known as the "Field and Stream" buck.

Conversation among many in the deer hunting community speculated that the buck is of world-record size. Many are certain that the buck Bob Decker harvested with his bow, is the same as the one in the video.

I don't know about you, but I can hardly wait for the Gun Deer Season to start. Only a few weeks left. My "countdown" is on.

kjp55,

Thanks for the suggestion. The web "folks" have it on their radar and are planning on bringing back the Deer Hunting Photo Gallery (like last year) soon.

Justin, Isn't it time to start the deer photo gallery? With bow season underway, I would think there are some nice pics out there.
