Breaking up - Hard to do
In my previous blog, I mentioned to bring Brett back as the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. I still feel that way. And I think a lot of the 'drama' could have been avoided had Ted Thompson AND Brett Favre dealt with the situation a little differently. Unfortunately, it might be too late.
Since more and more information has become available this past week, I'm exhausted. I'm tired of the story. I'm tired of the "He Said - They Said" stuff. It's a bad situation all the way around.
I don't blame Favre for changing his mind. I think he can still play. I'd like to see him still play. But only with the Packers. But that's the 'fan' in me talking. From a business stand point, it wasn't very cool for Favre to change his mind as many times as he "supposedly" did. Can you blame Green Bay for "moving on?"
I feel bad for Aaron Rogers, who has done an amazing job answering the questions thrown at him about this whole ordeal. He's obviously been 'coached', but still he is acting like a veteran quarterback and that's what he should do.
Aaron Rogers isn't the only person who has "big shoes" to fill. Ted Thompson is still trying to fill Ron Wolf's shoes. How would you like to be him right now? Do you bring Brett back and take a chance of loosing your future with Aaron? Do you trade Brett and risk the fan back-lash or if the Packers play against Brett and his new team and loose? Or even worse...Ted hands the ball to Aaron and he gets hurt in the middle of the season.
I know...that's a lot of could of's, should of's, would of's.
This whole Brett Favre - Packes - Ted Thompson stuff is really hard on a die-hard fan like myself. It feels like a bad divorce.
The fan in me, hopes Ted and Brett kiss and make up. And soon!
I'm not alone. Here's a very interesting point of view from FOX Sports' Jason Whitlock..
