Jake and Ray,
Listen this was meant to be a Defend Ken Scott post. This was meant to show what a sad state that country radio has become that it is ignoring great country artists. When I say playing Dwight or George jones I don't mean only there million selling hits. They are both putting out quality music. And it's just as good as the flash in the pan artists I hear everyday on WJVL.
Right now I'm listening to Big Red play an artist named Dale Watson. Now I never knew of what a great preformer he was until I heard it on Big Red's Program. Now have either of you heard any of Dales music? How about the new single from Dwight Yoakum, "Close Up the Honky tonks"?
My contention is there's alot more country music than this Bubblegum crap that CMT and country radio keep force feeding us! I'm not here to bash Ken or WJVL, I just wish people would listen to more than the latest from Rascal Flatts and Jamie Foxx(Is that really Country)

Then let me ask you this where do I hear artists like Dwight Yoakum, Merle Haggard, Dale Watson, And George Jones? On ZOK?
Country radio has turned it's back on the diehard country fans and THAT's Wrong! I mean Alan Jackson and George Strait know it, Does "Murder on Music Row" ring a bell?
My point from the beginning is that Country Radio needs to branch off and split the format. Because I know alot of people feel the same way I do. And it's not only here it's in Tennesee, Kentucky and Illinois also. My point isn't to attack WJVL. My point was to point out the difference between true country music and the POP rock that they are trying to push off as country.

Listen Ray,

I've worked in Radio for over 25 years so I understand how rotation works. I also understand how to program a radio station. And if it wasn't for a vocal chord injury I'd still be doing it. I just moved back here from Tennessee and can't believe how all the COuntry radio in this area is Top 40 driven. That's my point, and anytime you'd like to debate the state of country music let me know!

"There is alot of great music out there that dosen't get the airtime it should. Maybe Red Hot can help with the math my gues is 10 songs per hour average would equal 240 a day /1680 a week i would bet less than a quarter of the music JVL has gets played. So sorry to say some music/artist will suffer"

That Doesn't mean I want to hear the same Crap Over and Over. Instead of playing the New Rascal Flatts or Kenny Chesney every three hours. Play some other stuff, this isn't a Big Market radio station that is run by the Record companies. If that's the case let Clear Channel run everything!!
