Christmas T.V.
So I found out, last minute, last night that "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown" was on! We rushed through dinner, the kids did the dishes and we settled in as a family and watched. Charlie Brown is just one of the hallmarks, a "must watch" for me every year. Now I'll look for "Rudolph", "The Grinch" (TONIGHT on Ch. 27 Madison & Ch. 23 in Rockford) and "It's a Wonderful Life". They've produced some new specials in the last year or so. Tonight is "Shrek the Halls". We'll watch. I'm sure my kids will someday say, "If I don't see Shrek, it just won't seem like Christmas"...whatever. Give me "Rudolph" & "Charlie Brown" (which we own on DVD but ya gotta see 'em on TV to be authentic). DO you have a "must see" Christmas show? Which ones make the Holiday for you?

My favorite Christmas stories are Little House On the Prairie The Christmas They Never Forgot. The Waltons and of course The Christmas Story with poor old Ralphie and the Red Ryder bb gun.

(THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY)is really the one that can bring a tear to my eyes though.

My favorite is, and will always be the original black and white version of "It's A Wonderful Life." It chokes me up every time I watch it.

Almost any version of "A Christmas Carol" is what I NEED to see every year.
However, I agree with tbremel: "House Without a Christmas Tree" (which I happen to own), and The Homecoming are AWESOME movies from many years ago that need to be brought back to television for everyone's enjoyment.

Its rarely played anymore, but I always loved "The House without a Christmas Tree", starring Jason Robards. I also like the original "Walton's" pilot which was called "The Homecoming: A Christmas Story".

Jake: I remember the Norelco ad! Santa rides a shaver like a sled. At the end, they spell it "Noel"co.

Re: Enchanted
I rate it a big, fat Zero.
I won't waste my hard-earned money to go
watch it, at Movies 10 or even rent it.
It's another attempt for "Disney and Co."
to profit... by altering a true classic,
into a hoped-for box office smash.
If the previews on TV are anything like it,
at '10 or on DVD... toss it in the trash.

Yes... I DO fondly remember the "classic" shows
of yesteryear. However, the SHREK one is, in my opinion... destined to be yet another Classic.
"Rudy & Co" are fine for us older kids (50+) but... how about one, with Dora, Diego or even
DragonTales? What do other 'older kids' think?

I always have to watch "The Night They Saved Christmas" starring Jaclyn Smith and Art Carney. It is one of the best Christmas movies. Of course the classics too like Rudolph (which is on December 3rd on ABC Family by the way.)
